Agusiobo Joshua |The Brand Engineer blames Ojukwu for the war.
The essence for this post is to see intelligent replies to him.
The Biafran war was entirely avoidable, and Ojukwu knew this and later admitted it. Three million lives were lost because of the ambition of one man. In a 1995 interview with The Guardian newspaper, Ojukwu stated: “I think the war could have been averted. I think we were all guilty of not doing enough to prevent it.” He also acknowledged that he had made mistakes and that there were opportunities for dialogue and negotiation that were missed. In his 2003 book “Because I Am Involved,” Ojukwu wrote: “In retrospect, I believe that the war was unnecessary. We could have resolved our differences through dialogue and negotiation.” Ojukwu’s admissions suggest that he came to realize that the conflict could have been prevented through diplomatic means and that he accepted responsibility for his role in the events leading up to the war. Other Igbo leaders at that time, such as Nnamdi Azikiwe, M. I. Okpara, Anthony Enahoro, and Chuba Okadigbo, publicly criticized Ojukwu for even considering going to war, but their voices were drowned out by the prevailing emotions of the moment. If we fail to learn from history, we risk repeating the same mistakes.
A clout chaser wrote on Twitter in justification that Ojukwu started the war for declaring Biafra, as if he just woke up and did so.
