Today I visited the point in Uganda where the equator divides the earth into 2 halves.
Remember your geography class. The earth is divided into 2 parts; the Nothern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
The line that divides the earth is into these 2 halves is called the Equator.
That Equator passes through Uganda.
So the yellow line where I am standing is the Equator.
To my left is the North of the earth. And to my right is the south of the Earth.
Another fun fact about this place. Water spins in different directions, depending on whether you are in the North or south.
If you live in the North and you flush your toilet, the water will spin clockwise. If you live in the south the water will spin anti-clockwise.
If you live at the centre, on the equator line, water doesn’t spin.
This is why I love to travel. To experience all the things we read in books.
This is also why I will home-school my kids and take them on a lot of trips instead of putting them in conventional schools.
We learn a lot from travel.
