My thoughts;
Our language loss continues to puzzle me till date.

And to think that we continue to lose more of our language even before our very own eyes,is yet another big headache for our people.

A word comes to mind tightly “ænwele/ænwene;depending on how you pronounce it.

There’s an added adage that’ll help to remind readers from my region,the word that I try to bring to the fore tonight and it says; “Omaka Ejiji Chu,ǒga Egbulili ænwele”. It means “no matter how rusty the coral bead is,it must still shine”.

The word shine or shine-bright is what is called “ænwele/ænwene” in our original language.

However,that word today,exists only in this adage,the general population of my people now use “egbuke or nwucha”.

This adds to the list of Yali,Ozili,ote,Ododo,Ofigbo and others that we have completed substituted for the Igbo language.

Like I said earlier,much work is needed truly to return to our original lingua and that work must be a conscious effort,not just for the now but for posterity.
