Step into history and behold Arg-e Bam,
Step into history and behold Arg-e Bam, a stunning architectural marvel that hails from over 2,000 years ago. Nestled in the enchanting southeastern region of Iran’s Kerman province, this magnificent adobe brick citadel holds the title of the world’s largest of its kind. Encompassing about 180,000 square meters, or an awe-inspiring 1.94 million square feet, it rises dramatically from the landscape, encased by formidable walls that tower 6 to 7 meters high and stretch an impressive 1,815 meters long.
As you gaze upon this extraordinary fortress, your eyes are drawn to its iconic 67 towers, two of which dominate the horizon, creating a breathtaking silhouette against the sky. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Arg-e Bam is a testament to the ingenuity and artistry of ancient architecture. However, this UNESCO gem faced a heartbreaking setback when a devastating earthquake struck in 2003, leaving scars on its storied landscape that serve as a poignant reminder of the fragility of history.
