The first currency created were the 5 shillings coins and the I pound note.
The Bank of Biafra was initially located in Enugu but eventually moved to various destinations to avoid attacks from the federal troops.
One Biafran pound as at them was worth 250 naira and in some cases 280 naira.
After the war was lost, the Nigerian federal troops made sure destroy every evidence of the Biafra currencies.
People’s homes were ransacked and anyone who was caught with the currency was severely dealt with.
The fear made many Biafrans, burn their currencies and some Buried theirs.
