REP. PETER ANIEKWE’S LEGISLATIVE COMPLIANCE TO CAUTION EGBEAGU AGULERI AND UMUOJI UMUOBA ANAM COMMUNITY CRISIS

The dutiful Honourable Member representing the good and hardworking people of Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Aniekwe (Macpee), also addressed as “Peter the Rock”, confidently exercised his legislative duties in compliance with peaceful co-existence of his constituents. He moved a Motion of Urgent Public Importance on the Egbeagu Aguleri and Umuoji Umuoba Anam Community crisis at the floor of the Green chambers.

Rep. Aniekwe explicated the need for Federal Government intervention to manage the crisis, and forestall brutalities which translated into deaths, injuries and displacement of several constituents, posing a negation on the right to life; dignity of human person; personal liberty; to mention a few.

In his resolve, Rep. Aniekwe called on the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to, as a matter of urgency, proffer requisite humanitarian assistance to affected victims of the community crisis.

He also asked the Honourable House to mandate the Committees on Emergency and Disaster Management as well as that of Legislative Compliance to ensure the manifestation of the resolves.

In total acceptance of the house members, the motion was transferred to the committee on Humanitarian affairs, Emergency and Disaster Management.

In conclusion, a minute of silence was observed for those who lost their lives in the crises.
