The 1966 coup plotters have already discussed with awolowo in detention that they will bring him out and make him the prime minister.
Other yariba officers that were among the coup plotters knows about the plan.

Yariba people knows that awolowo planned everything with Kaduna Nzeogwu and others but they covered everything up.

If the coup was a successful one… yariba people will not call it an IGBO coup because they know that if it was a success that the person who will take over power is a yariba man which is awolowo.

But because the coup was not successful, they termed it an IGBO coup just to draw the attention of the north away from the following…
_They called it an IGBO coup to make the north to forget about awolowo being part of the coup plotters.
_They called it an IGBO coup to make the north to forget about the yariba officers that were among the coup plotters.
_They called it an IGBO coup just to make sure that the north does not kill yariba people living in the north.

If Kaduna Nzeogwu was alive to tell the story.. he will tell the world that awolowo planned everything with them.
There is no way the coup plotters will be planning to bring awolowo out from detention without planning everything with him. They can’t make him the prime minister without his consent.

Yariba people joined forces with the north to kill the IGBOS during the genocide all because they’re protecting awolowo and other yariba coup plotters.
