Many children today will never ever see a fire fly.

The neighborhood of my childhood , looked very much like this . Maybe the only difference was that our houses were bigger , we had more clearer tiny foot paths , more Banana trees , and a huge water body down south, the Epe Lagoon.

Child hood in Epe was magical , you could not outgrow such magic.

The morning mist and dew wet on the grass, songs of birds daily greet the dawn. The stars at night more visible away from city lights and the magic of fire flies on leaves truly come alive here.

The entire Lagoon was our daily swimming pool.
No amount of money could build that kind of swimming pool.

We had farms and gardens to the north and all around the house .

We had our own forest , the rubber plantation forest to the east felt like it belonged to us.We were children hunters . We hunted in the forests and waters with machete, fish traps , animal traps and we had a gun , a real gun . Our lady Diana.

The massive military Base was close by and the Commandants house was right behind our hills .

To the west was the OLUWO fish Market which has always attracted visitors from all around the world
Caucasians with huge dogs , Asians with with cameras, Deawo cars , flat shoes like them flat yansh coming for all the wierder foods like prawns , snails , snakes , anything you could imagine.

A couple of Indians and people from other African countries.

The Liberians poured in during ECOMONG . Our soldiers from the barracks also brought many Fine tall, slender , dark beautiful Liberian women with them as spoils of war.

We used to sell cassava leaves to the Liberian women. They acted like it was the food of life.

Today the lagoon and the market are still there but much of the greenry is gone.

It is our dream to recreate this dream place .
