Political commentator Obiasogu David has weighed in on Rotimi Amaechi’s recent remarks:

“If you say you’re popular, come and win the primaries.”

David interprets Amaechi’s words as a pointed jab at Peter Obi, whom he labels “the most popular Nigerian politician alive.”

Yet, he contends that a party primary featuring Atiku and Amaechi as candidates—where only selected delegates get to vote—will inevitably lead to one thing: fraud!

He argues that Peter Obi stands little chance in such a scenario, not due to a lack of financial backing, but because he steadfastly refuses to bribe or buy delegates—a principle he holds dear.

Do you believe Peter Obi can ever clinch a Nigerian party primary with the current delegate system, or is it time to overhaul the system entirely?
