1.Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu (from Okpanam, Oshimili North): A key figure in the 1966 coup, he joined Biafra and was killed in battle near Nsukka in 1967 while fighting for the secessionist cause.  

2.Major Albert Okonkwo (from Oshimili North): Briefly declared the short-lived Republic of Benin (Mid-West) in 1967 before aligning with Biafra, serving as a military administrator and officer until the war’s end.  

3.Col. Joseph “Hannibal” Achuzia (from Asaba, Oshimili South): A renowned commander known as “Hannibal” for his tactical prowess; served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) the 16th Division and played key roles in defending Onitsha and the Mid-West invasion.   

4.Brig. Conrad Nwawo (from Aniocha North): Rose to brigadier; served as Administrative Officer at Biafran Army Headquarters, a divisional commander, and led special command units.     

5.Col. Mike Inidum Okwechime (from Anioma region): Served as a division commander, Adjutant-General, and Chief of Logistics at Biafran Defense Headquarters until the war’s end.    

6.Col. B.S.A. (Ben) Nwajei (from Oshimili North): Commander of the 14th Division and the 53rd Brigade; led operations to capture Oguta but was later reassigned after setbacks.    

7.Navy Capt. Wilfred Anuku (from Ika): Head of the Biafran Navy, overseeing naval operations throughout the war.   

8.Col. B.O. Ochei (from Oshimili South): Commandant of the Biafran School of Infantry, training troops for combat.
