She stole the king golden crown After he burnt her parents alive, now the king has two days to live!

The fire was still burning when Ijeoma arrived from the village stream. Her parents’ house was gone. The land was black. The air smelled of smoke. People stood far away. No one wanted to speak. No one wanted to fight the king.

King Oba had sent his guards to take the land. Ijeoma’s parents refused. So the king gave an order. Burn the stupid couple, burn the house. Burn everything. Leave nothing behind.

Ijeoma watched from the hill. Her hands shook. Her eyes were dry. She did not cry. She did not speak. She turned and walked away as her heart was choked with hot anger and deep hatred

That night, she made a plan!

The king had one weakness. His crown. It was not just to his life. The crown must stay on his head. If he stayed without it for three days, he would die.

Ijeoma knew this. Everyone in the kingdom knew. But no one had ever touched the crown.

She waited for the palace to sleep. She wore a wrapper like a servant. She walked past the guards. She entered the king’s room. He was snoring. The crown was beside him.

She took it.

She wrapped it in cloth. She left the palace. She did not stop. She walked through the forest. She crossed the river. She reached a village far away. No one knew her there. She hid the crown under a basket of yams.

In the palace, the king woke up and touched his head. The crown was gone. He shouted. The guards ran in. They searched the room. They searched the palace. They searched the market. Nothing.

One day passed.

The king could not eat. He could not sleep. His skin turned pale. His hands shook. He called the chief priest.

The priest came with a calabash. He poured water. He spoke to the gods. Then he looked at the king.

He said a girl had taken the crown. A girl whose parents were brutally and unjustly killed. She had traveled far. The gods did not say where. The king must find her. He had two days left.

The king sent his guards to every village. They asked questions. They searched huts. They looked under beds. They opened baskets. But they did not find her.

Ijeoma heard that the king was searching. She moved the crown to a new hiding place. She did not speak to anyone. She did not smile. She just waited in an old abandoned hut at the outskirt of the village

The second day passed.

The king was weak. He could not walk. He sat on the floor. He begged the gods. He begged the priest. He begged his guards.

But suddenly………………..
