From Colonial Chains to Self-Inflicted Bondage: The Cry for True Freedom in Nigeria
From Colonial Chains to Self-Inflicted Bondage: The Cry for True Freedom in Nigeria🇳🇬🦅
We broke free from the shackles of European colonialism, yet we have fallen into a darker and more humiliating bondage the colonialism of our own black brothers.
We celebrated independence from foreign masters, but the bitter truth is that after their departure, we became prisoners of a new system the rule of our own leaders who secretly uphold the very structures left behind by the colonial powers.
These men, who should have been the guardians of our honor and the defenders of our nation’s dignity, have instead become instruments of oppression. Through corruption, greed, and betrayal, they have inflicted wounds deeper than those left by the Europeans. At least with the Europeans, we knew their mission was to exploit us; their intentions were plain to see. But our own brothers those entrusted with our future have betrayed us, selling our nation’s soul for personal gain and enslaving us through reckless debts, looting, and blind loyalty to the designs of foreign masters.
O Lord! Just as You delivered us from the open chains of European domination, deliver us now from these black oppressors who enslave us in secret. Free us from their corruption, shield our nation from their wickedness, and raise for us leaders who are just, God-fearing, and truly patriotic leaders who will honor the blood and sacrifices of our ancestors and restore dignity to our people.
For it is only after we escaped the rule of strangers that we discovered a harsher tyranny the bondage imposed by our own. Yet we lift our voices in prayer and in hope: wipe away our tears, break these modern chains, and grant us the blessing of true freedom in our land, Nigeria.
