Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has reportedly broken down in deep regret over his role in the Biafra War, confessing that life has lost its joy and even death has refused to take him.

“I am not enjoying life, yet death has refused to come. The cries of the Biafran people still haunt my dreams,” Gowon was quoted as saying from his hospital bed in London.

He allegedly begged the Igbos to forgive him, admitting that the memories of the war remain a heavy burden on his soul.

“I see their faces every night… the children, the mothers — they never left my mind,” he reportedly said, with tears rolling down his cheeks.
