This is peak ignorance and a shocking display of misplaced loyalty.

This is peak ignorance and a shocking display of misplaced loyalty.

At a time when Nigeria is bleeding from insecurity, poverty, kidnappings, unemployment, and collapsing infrastructure, some individuals chose to occupy Nigerian streets not to demand safety for Nigerians, not to protest hunger, not to defend victims of terrorism but to publicly pledge allegiance to a foreign government.

This is not patriotism. This is civic irresponsibility.

Nigeria is not a proxy ground for foreign ideological battles. No Nigerian government sent anyone to Iran to fight their wars, and no Iranian authority is solving Nigeria’s problems. Yet here we are, watching people abandon national conscience for blind external allegiance.

If this same energy were directed toward demanding accountability from Nigerian leaders, condemning banditry, or standing with victims of violence in the North and across the country, Nigeria would be better for it. Instead, we see public theatrics that insult the intelligence of struggling Nigerians.

Patriotism means standing for your country first. Anything else is a distraction and a dangerous one.

Nigeria deserves citizens who put Nigeria above foreign politics. Enough of this nonsense.
