Across the royal courts of Ghana, the drum are powerful symbols of authority, history, royalty and sacred tradition.

    In earlier centuries, royal drums could summon warriors, warn of danger, or announce victories. The drumbeat carried messages across communities long before modern communication.

The drums themselves are masterpieces. Carved from large hardwood logs some carvings represent proverbs, animals, or ancient wisdom associated with leadership.

The drum is often stored in the royal palace and cared for by designated court drummers, whose role is inherited through generations.

When the royal drum begins to sound, everyone knows something important is happening: the king is present, tradition is alive, and the ancient rhythms of Ghana continue.
