Rejecting Fetish Worship: A Call to Those Mocking Christianity

In recent times, many who claim to be traditionalists have taken to social media to mock Christianity and lure believers back to fetish worship – a religion of human sacrifices, bondage, and fear. These critics forget that if not for Christianity, many of them would not be alive today to rant on social media.

Historically, many African traditions viewed twins as an abomination. Without Christianity’s gospel of truth and liberation, those who were born as twins would have been sacrificed to appease bloodthirsty deities. But the light of Christ exposed and ended these evil practices. Jesus declared, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Today, twins are celebrated, not killed.

Some mock traditional rulers (Ezes) for not resisting the government’s crackdown on fetish priests and ritualists. What they fail to understand is that many wise traditional rulers have freed themselves from the shackles of demonic worship. In the past, deceitful dibias (witch doctors) manipulated kings into sacrificing innocent virgins, plunging entire communities into perpetual bondage. But when the light of Christianity came, darkness had to give way. The Bible affirms, “When the perfect comes, the imperfect shall pass away” (1 Corinthians 13:10).

Today, many kings lead their people in peace and wisdom rather than terror and fear. If some still insist on serving their Ekwensu (devil), let them offer their own blood and that of their family – not deceive others into embracing darkness. Joshua 24:15 states, “Choose this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

We have rejected idol worship, its bondage, sacrifices, and wickedness. Christianity has brought freedom, peace, and civilization.

Let those who still desire the past waste themselves, not others. Biko, we have moved on!
