🇳🇬 They taught us about Mungo Park… now let’s learn about our own heroes.

Dr. Akanu Ibiam (1906–1995) was from Unwana, Afikpo in present-day Ebonyi State (South East Nigeria).
He was one of the first Igbo medical doctors and later became the first indigenous Governor of the old Eastern Region. He loved education, healthcare, and serving his people. He was a man of discipline, wisdom, and strong character. Today, Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu is named after him.

Prof. Dora Akunyili (1954–2014) was from Agulu in Anambra State (South East Nigeria).
She was a brave pharmacist who fought fake drugs in Nigeria when she was the head of NAFDAC. Because of her courage, many lives were saved. She later became Minister of Information and continued speaking for a better Nigeria. Dora was strong, fearless, and truly loved this country.

These are our heroes.
People who stood up.
People who served.
People who made Nigeria better. 🇳🇬✨
