According to reports, two sons of the South-East Zonal Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Haruna Sale, were killed during an attack on a cattle camp in Oheoyya community, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State. The victims were identified as Ahmadu and Umaru. The association also alleged that about 40 cattle belonging to its members were slaughtered during the incident.
MACBAN said the attack occurred on Saturday, July 25, 2026, when unidentified gunmen invaded the cattle camp. The association stated that security agencies and the Enugu State Government later helped recover the victims’ bodies from a nearby forest, allowing them to be buried according to Islamic rites.
In a statement signed by its National Deputy Director-General, Gidado Siddiki, MACBAN condemned the killings and called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, identify those responsible, and prosecute them. The group also appealed for peaceful coexistence between herders and host communities, stressing that its members in the South-East are engaged in lawful cattle rearing and trading.
As of the latest reports, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and there has been no official announcement of arrests in connection with the killings.
