56 Hope Road, Kingston.

Bob was shot in the chest and arm.
Rita was shot in the head.
His manager Don Taylor was hit five times.

No one died.Two days later, arm in a sling and still bandaged, Bob Marley walked onto the stage in front of 80,000 people and played for 90 minutes.

When someone asked him why he still performed, he said:

“The people who are trying to make this world worse are not taking a day off. Why should I?”

That night wasn’t bravado.
It was purpose bigger than fear.

After the concert he left Jamaica for London.
In 1977 he recorded Exodus, the album TIME later called the Album of the Century.
