A LOT WAS DONE TO DESTROY IGBO CIVILIZATION
A LOT WAS DONE TO DESTROY IGBO CIVILIZATION
Our unity was weakened.
Our institutions were discredited.
Our culture was demonised.
Our history was distorted.
And perhaps most dangerously, our language was attacked.
Why?
Because destroying a people’s language, memory and confidence makes them easier to control.
But here is the uncomfortable truth: that project did not end with c0lonialism.
Its effects are still visible today in the way some Ndigbo speak about their own culture, reject their own names, ridicule their ancestral institutions, and sometimes know more about European history than the history of their own people.
The saddest part?
Many Ndigbo do not even realise that this happened.
That is why we are here.
Not to glorify the past.
Not to hate anyone.
Not to manufacture history.
We are here to recover the evidence, ask difficult questions, correct distortions, and create awareness.
Because a people who lose their history eventually lose the ability to define themselves.
KNOW YOUR HISTORY.
RECLAIM YOUR VOICE.
