ETHIOPIA IS ABOUT TO ENTER A NEW YEAR 🇪🇹

While much of the world is already in 2026, Ethiopia follows its own ancient calendar.

Tomorrow, September 11, Ethiopians celebrate Enkutatash — Ethiopian New Year. 🇪🇹

The celebration comes at the end of the rainy season, when the countryside becomes green and the famous yellow Meskel daisies begin to bloom.

Enkutatash is also associated with new beginnings, family gatherings, singing, dancing and exchanging New Year greetings.

Ethiopia’s calendar is unique, with 12 months of 30 days plus a 13th month of five or six days.

So today, let’s celebrate the culture and history of one of Africa’s most unique countries.
