IGBOS ARE THE MOST ANCIENT PEOPLE IN SOUTHERN NIGERIA – HISTORY PROVES IT
There is a viral video on 2024 where the Ooni of Ife himself saying it with his own mouth – that Igbos are the most ancient people in Southern Nigeria. You have also heard the present Oba of Benin in a video narrating how the son of Oduduwa, Oranmiyan, invaded Igodomigodo in 1170 AD. That land was co-existed by Igbos and Esan people before the invasion. That is why till today you still have Igbos of Edo State Igbanke (Igbo-Akiri) and Esan living side by side.
With all these proofs from our royal fathers themselves, it is unfortunate to hear some tribes that actually got their root from Igbo trying to denigrate Igbo by saying “Igbo have no history”.
When we talk about history, small small tribes that were formed yesterday will tell you to “use this energy to trace Igbo history” or say “Igbos should tell us their history first”.
The truth is, nobody can completely gather Igbo history because it predates human documentation and writings. All these tribes in the South have their roots in Igbo and have evolved with time in their languages and dialects.
The Igbos are the only ancient people of Africa whose history could not be completely captured or written by the whites. We are the only race that have existed before men thought of counting. White anthropologists and archaeologists could not fathom the very time the Igbos settled.
The whites were able to document tribes like the Benin and Yoruba history because they are recent dwellers and not as ancient as the Igbos whose time of settlement cannot be ascertained.
As with some ancient tribes, the time Igbos settled is completely lost to human minds before the knowledge of documentation began. This was because we all lived peacefully without a central directorate even before the idea of kings and rulers was introduced.
However, uranium studies and archaeological traces have identified certain human activities in Igbo land from a period between 220,000 BC. A time when the population of the entire world was presumably less than 30,000 people and there was no human existence before ‘Ndi Gboo’ in Africa.
Ndi Igbo bu Ndi Gboo – We are the ancient ones. Africa history can’t be complete without Igbo history.
