From Solomon’s Court to Ogun’s Forest: The Untold Story of Queen Bilikisu Sungbo Alagawura (A Throne of Gold) ..

Born “Bilqis” in the Kingdom of Sheba in Yemen ..

Let’s take you on a journey, my History lovers family, a journey buried deep in time. a queen wrapped in gold, walking with grace and power, her Reign echoed through history. Her name? Bilikisu Alaga Wura, known across empires as the Queen of Sheba..

Now, the Bible tells us she came from Yemen. The Arabs call her Bilkis. The Ethiopians call her Makeda. But here in Nigeria, in the sacred town of ljebu-Ode, They call her Bilikisu Sungbo Alagawura, the woman of gold. And believe me, her story didn’t end in the scriptures… it continued right here on our soil in Nigeria ..

She was born in Sheba, Yemen, raised in Abyssinia (which we now call Ethiopia), and died in Ogun State, Nigeria.

Yes, you heard right.

Sheba, also known as Saba, was an ancient South Arabian kingdom, with its heartland around Marib and Sirwah in modern-day Yemen.

Long ago, this queen heard whispers of a man, King Solomon. A man of great wisdom and divine favor. She didn’t just send messengers; no, she rode with her own royal caravan.

Camels loaded with gold, spices, and precious stones. When she arrived in Jerusalem Israel, the entire land stood still.

And guess what? The Historical Book called Bible said: “Never again were so many spices brought into Israel as those the Queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.” But their meeting was more than just a diplomatic visit. According to Ethiopian legends from the Kebra Nagast, Queen Makeda stayed with Solomon for six months. On her last night, Solomon, curious about this beautiful, dark-skinned woman, tricked her into his bed.

She returned to her kingdom, pregnant with Menilek I, the son who would become the first emperor of Ethiopia and the ancestor of Emperor Haile Selassie I, the father of Rastafari.

But here’s where the story takes a turn, a part many don’t know.

  1. This is a fascinating and richly woven narrative—full of mystery, cultural depth, and historical intrigue. 🙏

What stands out is how beautifully you connect different traditions—Biblical, Arabian, Ethiopian, and Nigerian—into one flowing story. It brings a legendary figure to life in a way that feels both grand and intimate.
