Christopher Okigbo: Widely regarded as one of the greatest post-coloni@l African poets, Okigbo had been working at Cambridge University Press in Ibadan before the cr1sis. Deeply committed to the Biafran cause, he set up Citadel Press with Achebe in Enugu and enlisted as a field-commissioned major.
He d1£d in action defending the university town of University of Nigeria, Nsukka in September 1967.

Chinua Achebe: Already making waves in the literary world by 1959, Achebe published his groundbreaking novel, “Things Fall Apart”, a year prior. The success of his books established him as the founding father of modern African literature. He survived the w@r and continued an illustrious academic and writing career until his d£@th in 2013.

Alex Ajayi: Another prominent Nigerian intellectual and educator from that generation, he also navigated the turbulent politic@l decades and played a vital role in Nigerian administration and education.
