Adekunle Fajuyi was not one of the plotters or participants in the January 15, 1966 cøup.

Here are the key facts:
👉At the time of the cøup, Fajuyi was the Military Governor of the Western Region.

👉He did not participate in planning or executing the cøup led by officers such as Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Adewale Ademoyega, and others.

👉After the cøup, he accepted the authority of the new Head of State, Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, as did other senior military officers who remained in service.

👉Fajuyi is remembered instead for his conduct during the counter-cøup of July 29, 1966. When mutinøus soldiers came to Ibadan to arrest Ironsi, who was visiting the Western Region, Fajuyi refused to abandon his guest. He chose to remain with Ironsi, and both men were abdücted and k!lled together.

👉His loyalty and sacrifice have made him one of the most respected figures in Nigerian military history.
