There is nothing like South south.
It is not in geography.
It does not exist.

That is what some Igbo people are saying because they think that Ndigbo will only succeed if South south stops to exist.
The South south was created to cause disunity between Ndigbo and other ethnicities in the South south.
They were in the Eastern region in the past, but in order to weaken the struggle for Biafra, they created the South south by removing the Igbos in Rivers state, Cross River, Bayelsa and Akwa ibom from Old Eastern region.
After the creation of South south, it has now become the political identity of the Igbos and none Igbo ethnicities in the region.
And when Ndigbo says that there is nothing like South south, the people in the region will feel threatened that Ndigbo are fighting and claiming them to expand into their territory. And that thing is fueling hate against Ndigbo.
The place called South East nigeria today is not actually South East in nigeria map if you understand geography.
The geography of nigeria is all lies.
We Igbos must be strategic on the way we approach this issue.
Ndigbo should understand that South East, Eastern region, South south and North Central are all political creations.
Anioma people were never part of Eastern region since the creation of nigeria. Will you now say that there is nothing like Delta state for not being part of Old Eastern region? No. Your concern should be the indigenous Igbos in Delta and Edo state.
If you’re saying that there is nothing like South south all because they were removed from old Eastern region, it means that we have been defeated. It means that Ndigbo care about the population of other ethnicities than Igbo people.
Ndigbo should be concerned about the Igbos in Old Eastern region that were removed from the region and not the none Igbos there.
Joining the none Igbos from the South south back to Old Eastern region won’t make them Igbo people, it won’t make their Land Igbo Land. So what is the issue of saying that there is nothing like South south all about?
Hausa people are uniting without arguing about geopolitical zones. They’re not saying that there is nothing like middle belt, North Central, North East or North west. They focus on hausa unity.
Ndigbo should do the same.
nigeria politics is about divide and rule.
We Igbos should unite because that is the biggest weapon against divide and rule, and not going about saying that there is nothing like South south as if all the lands in the South south belongs to Ndigbo.
The focus of Ndigbo should be for Ndigbo indigenous to 13 nigeria states in the South East, South south and North Central down into the Atlantic ocean to unite and stand together as a people.
The concern of Ndigbo from the South East when it comes to the issue of South south should be Ndigbo from the South south. Anything other thing aside that is a waste of time and energy.
If we want to unite with our none Igbo speaking neighbors in the South south, then we are expected to address them as what they are. We are expected to address them as south south people just as we are addressed as South East people.
We are expected not to call them Igbos just as some Igbo people are doing, because when we do, it will make us look as expansionists and they will keep resisting to unite with us.
There is nothing like South south in world map but it exists in nigeria. It is now the political identity of the people in the region.
We must put Igbo unity first above South East, South south and North Central.
Igbo unity is all we want.
