Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has made his position clear: his demand is not just about his personal freedom, but about the right of the Biafran people to determine their own future through a referendum.

Despite years of controversy, accusations, internal divisions and opposition from within and outside the movement, Kanu has remained consistent with his demand for a referendum.

Addressing the American Military Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID), he thanked them for their support and encouragement, while making it clear that he would not negotiate away what he describes as his peopleโ€™s destiny.

Whether people agree with his position or not, his message is unmistakable: he wants the people to decide their future through a free vote.

The question now is whether the Nigerian government will ever agree to a peaceful, democratic process that allows the people to express their wishes.

What do you think about Nnamdi Kanuโ€™s firm position on a referendum?
