A family’s hope turned to tragedy when a man went to rescue his kidnapped mother – and both of them ended up dead.
A woman was taken by kidnappers from Bayan Dutse Narayi in Kaduna South back in December 2025.

Her family couldn’t raise all the money the kidnappers demanded.

Her oldest son, Joshua, decided to go himself. He took the money they had managed to gather and went to the kidnappers’ hiding place to beg for his mother’s release.

But when he got there, they told him bad news: his mother had already died while in their hands.
Even after hearing his mother was dead, the kidnappers still took the money Joshua brought.

Then they grabbed him too.

They later killed him.

Joshua left behind a wife and children who are now heartbroken

A community member confirmed the sad news on Saturday.

He said the family got more painful messages about Joshua while he was in the kidnappers’ hands. In the end, they lost him too.

This story is not alone. Many families across Nigeria are going through the same pain.

People in the community are angry and scared. They are asking the governor and security forces to find the kidnappers and stop this from happening again.

One community leader said: “This cannot be normal. It must stop!”
