One question African spirituality asks that many people avoid:

Why do people celebrate genealogy in scripture, yet become uncomfortable when Africans speak about ancestors?

Scripture preserves lineages. Names were remembered. Families were known through generations.Yet in some modern spaces, people are taught that once a person dies, even remembering them becomes dangerous.

Think carefully:
When your grandmother dies, does she suddenly become evil?
When your father dies, does respect expire?
When your mother passes on, do her sacrifices lose meaning?

African cultural heritage has long taught that death does not erase relationship.
Across many African traditions, ancestors are remembered for the good they did. They are remembered because they are our roots.

Roots are not the same as worship. Roots are acknowledged.

Another truth many overlook:
One hundred years from now, almost everyone alive today will belong to history. You, too, may be remembered as a good or a bad ancestor.

Your grandchildren may speak your name, tell your story, and carry forward your values.

Will that make you evil?
Many biblical figures , died, and are still remembered today. Their stories continue to teach generations.

So African spirituality asks:
If remembering those who came before us is wrong,
why preserve family names?
Why protect graves?
Why record history?
Why honor bloodlines?

Honor the Source.
Respect the living.
Remember those who carried you.
