In March 1993, just three months to the June 12 presidential election, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who was in prisøn was asked about Chief MKO Abiola and his preparation for the election and eventual ascension to the position of the President.

Editors from TheNEWS magazine had visited him in prison where they interviewed him. Fela’s response was philosophical. See the question and his response below:

Question: But what happens if Chief Abiola becomes the next President?

Fela: Wait now make him take over. He don jump there now his eyes go see a lot.

Abiola won the election but never became the president. In-between the struggle to get back his mandate, he truly saw a lot as Fela predicted.
